Working on portraits

I am practicing figures and portraits.  I am attending a weekly art class, the final aim being to be able to paint water colour figures and portraits. My teacher feels I should first work with pencil before using paints. I enjoyed using pencil and the control it gave me.

  1. You have done really well with this portrait, I tend to avoid portraits when ever possible, middle distance yes, but close-up No.!! So I admire those who do get on with the challenge.

  2. Lovely work, Brinda! I find portraits quite intimidating to paint.

  4. This has such a lovely softness to it. Great job on the monastery. I like the way you showed the scope of the mountain and the small buildings. Nicely done.

  5. Brinda, this is really wonderful. I think portraiture may be your cup of tea. I'd like to see more.
